Nowadays, billion and billion of people are searching and buying stuffs online every each seconds as I speak. They are using either Mac or PC computers to do online shopping, research, playing games, contacting to their friends and relatives, and on and on. Majority people do have at least one desktop or laptop computer at home. Even schools, businesses, libraries are using computers. It is everywhere and centralizes in our daily lives. You probably cannot live without it nowadays.
Thousand and thousand of images, documents, pictures, and data are put onto the hard drives. You have all of your information on to either 3 1/2 hard drives on your desktop or 2 1/2 hard drives on your notebook. But most people don’t realize when your hard drives are down and not working; you don’t know what to do or get into panic situation.
What is your backup plan? My advice to you is to do backup your data, pictures, documents regularly onto the spare hard drives.
Here are my suggestions below:
- Get organized all your data in sub folders
- Back up regularly weekly, biweekly, or monthly
- Back up what’s important to you, i.e., all your confidential documents, pictures, data
- Buy several hard drives or USB External storages
- Go back up your drives routinely
You need to know which hard drives are good and reliable to buy. There are only two big hard drives that I know are Seagate and Western Digital products. You buy whatever you can fit into your money budget. I prefer you to buy WD External storage like My Book edition or My Passport Elite because it is easy and inexpensive.
6 Ways To Save Money When You Shop Online
Author: Gabriel Adams
Online shopping has increased in popularity since the early days of the internet, but how can you be sure that you’re getting the same kinds of deals – or better – than what you’d get if you simply went to the store? Here are a few tips and tricks worth taking into consideration the next time you’re thinking of shopping online!
1) Search for online coupons.
At the checkout page of most online retailers, there will be a blank space for a ‘coupon code’ you can enter. If you don’t already have a coupon, do a quick Google search for ‘[store you're shopping at] coupon’. Often, you’ll find several sites that have collected online coupons for nearly every store imaginable – find a coupon code, and try it out! If it doesn’t work or it’s expired, keep looking! You can often find something, even if it’s free shipping on your order.
2) Search comparison sites.
A number of websites exist that will compare the cost of a product across a select number of sites, so that you can see where to get the best deal. Of course, not all sites will be checked – that would be a lot of comparisons – but it should give you a general idea of how much you should be paying, and how low some retailers will go. Pick the best deal, and keep shopping!
3) Check eBay.
As cliché as the phrase may have become, it’s the honest truth: eBay often has new or gently used items for better prices than you can find anywhere else. Certainly, there’s minimal risk involved when using eBay, but it’s only a small percentage of people who experience problems. When it comes in an incredible deal, it’s usually worth it.
4) Shop at sites with incentives.
Stick to shopping at websites that offer money-back on future purchases, or places that have points programs. Often with these stores, the more you buy, the more points or rebate money you get to put toward future purchases. If you like the store you’re buying from, it can be worth it – who doesn’t want free stuff in the long run?
5) Consider joining membership programs.
Many online shops have membership programs that work much in the same way as an incentive program, but it works in reverse – you pay a fee for the membership now, but you get the discount benefits right away. A lot of booksellers offer this kind of program, but more online shops are realizing that loyalty programs work – if the customer can get a discount all the time, why go anywhere else?
6) Join an outside service program.
If you shop online a lot, consider a shopping network site like Free Shipping. This site and others like it have partnered with thousands of online merchants to provide you with free shipping, every time you shop at one of their stores! Typically, there’s a trial period for these kinds of services, and afterward you’ll pay about $5.99 per month to retain the service. If you make at least one online purchase per month, the cost of the membership will probably be far less than the shipping fees!
Creative Gift Ideas In 2009
by: John Marshall
Creative gift ideas are the best types of gifts. These can show your originality and provide a great bond with the gift recipient. Not only does finding just the right gift work out well for the gift receiver, it also can be a source of pride for the gift giver. We know how valuable this can be which is why we are providing some tips to help you get this same benefit. Our suggestions work well for both birthday gift shopping and Christmas gift shopping.
1. Consider the interests, hobbies, and the setting of the individual.
The golden rule of gift giving is to match the gift to the person. It doesn’t matter how creative a gift you think it is if it is not within the interests of the person. These gifts simply do not work. Instead, do a little detective work and find out what are the interests and hobbies of the person. This can help you decide what are good areas to go after to explore further. This can also give you an idea of what price range and what types of gifts are ideal. For example, if you notice the person has a few young children in the house, it will probably be smart to avoid gifts that are easily breakable. Also, if you notice that you are buying for a student, getting them a really expensive gift would not be very practical as it would be incongruent with their current situation and look out of place. Also, they may even fear it would get stolen or broken diminishing the value of such a gift. Therefore, be sure to keep the interests, hobbies, and the current setting or situation of the individual in perspective.
2. Make the gift specialized for extra value.
The single most interesting person in anyone’s life is themselves. Therefore, be sure to take advantage of this when you are choosing gifts. Gifts that capitalize on the ego, positive self image, or likeness of the person are going to do better than blander less person specific gifts. Any gifts that can take into account the person, their favorite colors, or the like will be far more effective. This can be a challenge for some as people often have difficulty shopping for other people, but are really good at shopping for themselves. Therefore, make sure you are using the right lens when viewing all possible creative gift ideas. This will help increase the odds of you getting a solid gift.
3. Don’t be afraid to ask people what they like.
Although it is generally considered taboo or poor form to simply come out and ask someone what they want for their birthday or Christmas present, it is perfectly ok to ask them about their interests and see what they like. This subtle question will often yield the same results if you are paying attention. You can also use these conversations to run by possible gift ideas to see what they think about them. This is an easy way to make a dry run with your gift idea to see if they are likely to really like it. This simple idea can help save you from making a bad decision on a gift and increase the odds that you will find a winner.
Fun and Festive Ideas For Thanksgiving Gifts!
by: Kathy Smith
American Thanksgiving all started during 1621 when Native Americans celebrated a three-day feast for surviving the country’s first difficult winter. Thanksgiving today is known to be a very special holiday celebrated yearly during the 4th Thursday when autumn is at its best, November.
During Thanksgiving people usually gather, as friends or as families, and express their gratitude towards God for a fruitful year. Aside from the acknowledgements made by people during this day, another highlight of most Thanksgiving celebrations is actually the dinner you are to have during the gathering.
It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without the deliciously roasted and seasoned turkey at the center of the table. It’s been a tradition for years and years to have turkey as dinner’s main dish every Thanksgiving that some even call the special holiday “Turkey day.”
The gathering can also be an opportunity not only for hosts but for everyone present to acknowledge their friends, colleagues, and family for being in their lives. This is an opportunity to fix conflicts you have with anyone and do some patch ups with loved ones you rarely see because of regular busy days.
It’s also very common between Americans to exchange gift during this holiday to express their gratitude towards each other. They usually give out food or something they could eat for Thanksgiving dinner.
Of course, each person’s tastes are different so they usually give out food that is accepted by the local community. But that doesn’t stop certain people from giving out food that are exotic. Some prefer to give out home made goods, which is actually good and thoughtful. More people prefer home made goods because it’s a lot more special than just buying goods from stores.
Everyone appreciates good food, even the corporate can agree to that. There’s actually a lot to choose from when it comes to food given as gifts for Thanksgiving. There’s a wide variety to choose from. The most popular we have is the traditional turkey. Either smoke or roasted both are equally delicious.
There’s also ham, smoked or however you want it, which is ideally given along with deliciously homemade mashed potatoes and gravy, veggies, corn, or breads.
If you don’t like going to your local markets, you can also order food to be delivered as gifts from the internet. You might even find a wider variety online. But before purchasing it’s best to read the buyer’s feedbacks on that item you are planning on buying first.
Items should have reasonable or fair prices and the quality should be in accordance with standards. If you’re not sure about certain things, play safe. A trusted company will always have a lot of positive feedbacks.
Make Baby’s First Christmas Memorable
By: John Adams
Description : Having a baby is a very special event not just for the parents but for the entire extended family. Baby’s first Christmas is one you’ll want to remember forever. Christmastime is a time when families gather and often extended family members are together that you don’t see all the time. Here are some tips to make baby’s first Christmas memorable.
Remember your camera or camcorder – or both! These items are a must-have for your Christmas list. Just as you carry a stroller, wipes and other baby necessities – you now need to carry the camera and camcorder for baby’s first Christmas. You’ll want to take many photos of your beautiful baby with family and friends during Christmas. Remember to charge your batteries or even get new ones before the holidays start.
Some Mommies fuss about having the baby in a “perfect” outfit for Christmas. What matters more is that the baby is wearing something comfortable. If you are visiting family you don’t see regularly, you don’t know if their house will be too warm or too cold. Choose a baby outfit that can be dressed in layers so you can add or subtract clothing easily for your baby’s comfort.
Most babies dribble or drool food or spit as Christmas goes on – making that perfect outfit somehow seem less perfect. Simply choose something charming and let your baby look more beautiful than their outfit.
If you are visiting family for Christmas, now is the perfect time to let others hold or feed the baby. Even if they do this for a few moments, this can be the highlight of their Christmas and gives them a special moment with your baby. They may even recall this moment years from now. Make an effort to include everyone and let them do something with the baby during Christmastime.
4 Fun Ideas for Group Christmas Presents
By: Ellie Evergreen
Description : This Christmas you are scrambling to find all the items on your children’s wish list. But why all the hustle hurry? A great idea to add to your holiday shopping is a gift that all your kids can use and enjoy. There are some great benefits for doing this. You can save money by buying one big gift and buying smaller ones than they might have originally wanted. You are giving your kids something that have socialize and work together. Also if it is something they can all play you can join in from time to time and make it a family affair. Of course different families have different circumstances. However, here are some suggestions that may give you an idea of what to look for as you do your holiday shopping this year.
Multiplayer game consoles. One of the biggest innovations is that some video game companies have adapted their software and hardware for more multiplayer play. This is a huge development considering that the preponderance of games are single player or can only have other players join through online play. A great example is the Nintendo Wii. While not the high definition powerhouse its competitors are, it is a system quite adapted to group play. The innovative motion sensor remote and other accessories makes playing most video games easy to learn. It also has one of the widest selections of multiplayer games from it popular Wii Sports to Mario Galaxy. If you want a system with games all your children can enjoy this is definitely one to look for. Even if you don’t decide to go with this system XBOX and PS3 also have multiplayer party games that your entire family can enjoy.
A simpler gift idea is board games. Board games are great because they need a lot of people playing to really work. They can also be educational and great enrichment teaching your children leadership, strategy, and decision making. They also are incredibly cheap for the amount of fun they provide. Some great games are Life, Monopoly, Clue, and Scrabble. If you already have some of these games. Try getting new updated versions. Monopoly has different versions of the game for just about everykind of interest. There is even a new electronic Monopoly that eliminates the messy confusion of paper money and use credit cards.
While it also deals with video game consoles musical games are fast becoming popular and are great group games. Video games like rock band has a group of people work together to play famous rock hits. While the extra equipment needed to play is costly, It will more than pay for itself with the good times your children will enjoy playing with each other. There are also great karaoke games that can be played a recent favorite are the High School Musical karaoke games that have players perform songs from the three movies.
The last idea is to invest in play sets. Playsets can be anything from a swing and playground set to a tree house or play house. The idea is to give your children a place to play and exercise their imagination. Once again, the cost while higher for one item than normal gifts, actually offers net savings when the cost is divided among each child. You find you are actually spending less than what you would per child on their normal presents. To add to the Christmas magic you can include a magic key from Santa which you can order online.
Dreaming Of A White Christmas
By: John Adams
Description : Whenever you receive a Christmas card, or watch a television Christmas special, there is one thing which seems to unite them all – the presence of snow. This is something that has become as much a part of the Christmas message as anything. Perhaps it is because it looks so welcoming and bright and pure. Perhaps it is because it makes the scene immediately identifiable as a winter one, and therefore links it to Christmas. But there are many people in the English-speaking world who have never seen a White Christmas, and wonder when they will.
It depends, of course, where you live. Because it is in the Southern Hemisphere, Australia has Christmas in the middle of its climatic summer. As well as this, Australia is a temperate country anyway, so the chances of snow at Christmas are roughly equivalent to those of a 100-degree heatwave in New York in January. Even in the United Kingdom, which is known for its cold winters, snow tends to hold off until January for whatever reason. Though cold enough, the snow just doesn’t seem to have that sense of timing.
Nonetheless, whether you live somewhere that gets snow reliably just in the run-up to Christmas and then all the way through, or somewhere where it is unlikely to ever happen, the fact remains that, as a symbol of the day and the period, snow is something that is inextricably linked with Christmas. This holds true wherever you are, and is why we all know what Bing Crosby was singing about.
Christmas Is A Time To Reconnect
It is a fact of human life that, from time to time, we grow distant from those who we love. There are several reasons for this. Things happen in our life that take us to different places, and we cannot cover so much ground. Many of us have a number of friends and acquaintances and cannot be in contact with all of them at the same time. Christmas can be useful in repairing some of the damage that this does, and this is a major reason why it is seen as being a time of togetherness.
Whatever we may think at a given time, no friendship or relationship needs to be considered completely broken if one or both parts of it feel that there is a chance of reconnection. There may be a lot of hurt there, but Christmas allows a focus on things that we thought were lost. It is a time when many people feel that there is a chance for forgiveness, for apologies and acceptance. Whatever we feel may have been lost, we can focus on bringing back the good times.
Of course, Christmas is only here for a month, or a few weeks, and then we have to refocus on the world without Christmas in it. This is when the true test of what has been rebuilt comes, and if we are not truly committed to making it happen then it can still fall away again. But if you feel that you would like to reconnect with someone you had lost contact with, Christmas is the time to make it happen.
The Perils Of The Christmas Party
Although Christmas is a time of celebration, it can be a minefield for many people. The definition of a celebration is that people come together and enjoy a moment, and this happens most obviously at Christmas parties. More and more people are swearing off Christmas parties however, and this is due in no small part to the role played by alcohol. For those of us who like a drink, a party can be a chance to let our hair down, let our inhibitions drop and have a good time. But it needs to be remembered that sometimes inhibitions can save us from doing stupid things.
The fact is that alcohol taken in large enough quantities can make some people behave in ways that they would otherwise never dream of. It may be something pretty minor. The person who for the rest of the year is as quiet as a mouse may suddenly surprise everyone by singing karaoke – and being really good at it. They may still feel the following day that they have made an idiot of themselves and, while this is unfortunate, the fact remains that they may feel uncomfortable around people.
There are other, worse things that people do when drunk. Sometimes it can make a fairly placid person into someone who wants to fight the world – and this is a very destructive thing. Equally, it can make people who would usually be quite chaste into someone who will jump into bed with the first likely candidate. Coming back from this kind of indignity can be very hard indeed. It is OK to enjoy a drink, but it is important to know your limits.
Christmas Traditions: Not Essential, But Often Worthwhile
There is no right and no wrong way to celebrate Christmas. At least, where Christmas is concerned you do not have to stay with the traditional ways. After all, one of the major messages of Christmas is peace and goodwill. It would be absolutely wrong to start introducing rules as to what constitutes an acceptable form of revelry, above and beyond those already laid down by the law of the land. As long as you stick to the laws which exist, your Christmas can take any form you deem acceptable.
That said, there is a reason that the traditions have become traditional. When the first Christmas mince pies were produced, it is likely that the baker who cooked them had no idea just how much a part of Christmas they would become in many countries. People eat them, however, because they like them. Equally, it is not essential to have a tree in your house for the Christmas period – but people do, and have done for many years it does give a certain festive cachet to the whole occasion.
The main thing to keep in mind about the festive period is that people are supposed to enjoy themselves, and this should not be controlled by an insistence on maintaining traditions. The one tradition that should always be upheld at Christmas is that people are kind to one another and find a way to get along, even with those people they would ordinarily not speak to. As for the rest of it, people will find their own way.
Thinking Outside The Box (And Inside It Too)
When it comes to picking the ideal Christmas gift, there is no doubt that people put a lot of thought into how to make the festivities go just right for the person they are buying for. Christmas shopping can be very stressful – should you ask the person concerned what they want, or should you surprise them? Should you go for something classic or something quirky? If you make an educated guess as to what they’d like, what if you guessed wrongly? There are so many questions, and they have a habit of leading to other questions. It can be very tempting to just pick something out and hope for the best.
The fact of the matter is that if you are buying a gift for someone, you already know them fairly well – at least, we can assume so. This means that you know a lot about their likes and dislikes, and will probably have had a few of those conversations where a person reveals something about themselves that not a lot of people know.
Think back to the chats you have had with them, and try to think what stuck out about the conversation. They may have let slip something about an interest that they don’t talk about much. If you can make a gift idea out of that, they will be touched that you remembered and really value the gift.
If you are buying a Secret Santa gift, bear in mind that they won’t know who got them the gift. If it doesn’t quite hit the mark, then it hasn’t violated the law of Secret Santa, which is essentially a lottery anyway.
Why Not Make Your Own Christmas Greeting Cards?
By: Candace Martin
Description : During the holiday season, you will see lots of cards that are filled with good wishes for family and friends. However, if you want to offer your friends a Christmas greeting card they’ll remember, why not try creating them by yourself? Here are some tips on sending a Christmas greeting that will help you to be a little more crafty this season.
You can get some of your ideas from the cards that you see in the stores, by examining the pictures that are utilized for the covers, or by reading the humorous or heartfelt sentiments and tag lines that make that card one of a kind. For example, if you find some cards with animals sporting holiday accents, you might want to take some photos of your own pets decked out with bows and bells. Or, if you enjoy nature and know that your loved ones do too, take a picture of a forest of pine trees laden with snow, or a floral display of poinsettias.
Finding the most suitable things to say in your Christmas greeting card can be a little tricky, however you can make the message more personal when you are giving the card to a loved one, so it is best to simply speak from your heart, while still being imaginative. You might want to include your loved one’s preferred Christmas-themed Bible verse, or a quote from a seasonal movie that your family watches each year. Use these things as the basis for your greeting cards, then add a personal message of your own to make the card extra special.
If you’re out of ideas, try something like: “Christmas is always happier when you’re here. I love it when you come to see us” or “You’re always there for me, all throughout the year. I hope this card shows you how much I am grateful for your caring and kindheartedness.” Don’t be concerned about attempting to rhyme or sound impressive – an honest, warm message is just what your loved one wants to hear.
Of course, it is always nice to pair your Christmas greeting card with a gift – one that you bought with your family member in mind, or one that you made by yourself. You can bake fresh bread to accompany your Christmas card, or you might wrap a tin of cookies or popcorn to serve as an added treat for a loved one, or even a co-worker. You can even make a ‘designer’ Christmas decoration, with a photograph or meaningful family emblem to put on the tree along with your card, for a gift your loved one will always remember. Moreover, don’t forget that you can send e-cards and include animation, slide shows and music in your cards. These are especially popular for families who can’t always get together for the holidays.
4 Original and Fun Christmas Stocking Stuffers
By: Ellie Evergreen
Description : This Christmas you might be wracking your brain for something extra that you can give with your kid’s presents that will not cost a lot but will still be well received and maybe even cover for the fact that you had to give them only one big gift this year. A great ideas is to give them stocking stuffers. This is an old tradition that has been part of the Christmas holiday for a long time. If you have a fire place and can make some stockings you are in business. The tradition is that children hang their stockings in front of the fireplace to dry and when Santa comes he not only places presents under the tree, he also puts small toys and other goodies in the stockings. You can do the same and give your kids some great small presents for pennies on the dollar here are some fun suggestions to get you started.
Fruit is a great first choice to put in stockings. Many parents are becoming more concerned about their children eating healthy. You can put apples, oranges, and other solid fruit in the stockings along with the other items. It fits in with the tradition as it is honored around the world and also gives your kids a healthy snack to eat. You are able to give an affordable gift that is actually great for the health of your kids. This is sure to be a positive tradition that will promote good eating choices
Another great stocking stuffer are small toys. This will depend on the boy or girl but there are plenty of small affordable toys that you can purchase this Christmas. For boys you can put small cars, plains, or booster card packs for their card games. For girls you can put in small dolls such as Polly Pocket or mini Barbies or Bratz dolls. You can also go with generic versions of these toys. Another great toy will be Tomagatchies small electronic pet games that both boys and girls can enjoy.
You can also put in items that will exercise your children’s minds. Try purchasing word puzzles, word games, trivia games, and other small mind games that will entertain and train your kids’s brains. You can also find cheap sliding puzzles or purchase rubiks cubes. These are great because they will be small enough to fit most stockings and will give your kids hours of amusement on Christmas day as they try to solve the different puzzles and games. If your child has a gameboy or PSP you can also include new games as stocking stuffers.
Finally leave a special present from Santa. A good options is a letter in response to your own child’s letter. You can order one online that will list your child’s accomplishments, what they wanted that year and include a hand written signature from Santa. If you order it on time you can even get a special postmark. You can further personalize the letters by getting different letter that fit each child’s situation. There are letters for kids who have learned to write, kids who are going through a hard time, and even kids who have parents that are in the military and have been deployed. Your children will feel that Santa really ready their letters and their faith in the jolly old Elf will remain.
4 Holiday Ideas for Choosing Christmas Presents for Boys and Girls
By: Ellie Evergreen
Description : As the holiday shopping season approaches parents will be wracking their brains about what to get their kids for Christmas. Hopefully they will have some hints. A wish list, a letter to Santa, or some subtle hinting will give them a rough idea of what their kids are looking for. However it can be still dizzying. How do you balance what they want with what you can afford. Also there is the fact that if you have a son and a daughter both will want different things depending on the fads and trends for the year. Here are some tips to help you make sense of it all as you get ready for the holiday shopping season.
If you are going to get a big ticket items keep the gifts just at that. If your kid is asking for the latest console or toy and it costs an arm and a leg, make that the main gift. If relatives are sending presents that just makes things easier. You invested in the one thing that they really wanted. Either way stick with it and if they are still pressing you. Remind them that this was the top item on their list and they had a choice of either that item or lesser gifts. However, the reaction will depend on the gift. Most times they will be happy you put in the money to get the one thing they really wanted.
For boys the trends are focused on video games. If you have already bought a console a much more affordable idea is to get them the latests games coming out. With gift cards you don’t even have to deal with knowing the titles just give him the card and let him choose the game he wants. If he wanted a console, make sure to shop for bargains first. Some stores sell returned systems for major discounts. As for when you buy the console see if it comes with a game. If it doesn’t try to get at least one game title that they have been wanting. If they want any more games. You can use it as incentive for good grades, behavior, or earning their own money. So getting extra games and accessories becomes the carrot that will make your New Year better.
For girls the trend is Disney products. Whether your daughter is a tween fan of the Jonas brothers, or watches the Hannah Montana show, they will go wild if you get the Disney Channel themed items and toys. Take time to pay attention to what your daughter watches or take a good look at the wish list. Of course there are some inspired choices. You can buy DVD’s of their favorite TV shows if they are younger, or CDs of their favorite artists if they are younger. You will find yourself in a win-win situation.
A lot of younger children whether through what they learn in school or through the encouragement of Mom and Dad, come to believe in Santa Claus. If you have a child young enough to believe in Santa, make the occasion special. If your child wrote a letter to Santa, have him send one back. It can be an email or you can use a service online to order and make an actual Letter from Santa that your kids will enjoy.

Why do stores offer discounts, sales, and clearance and make less money? This is a good question. Believe it or not! Stores benefit by offering consumers products that are lower priced even though they are making less profit. This may seem strange, but there are good reasons why stores want you to take advantage of discounts, sales, and seasonal clearance. Read these reasons below to understand why stores want you to save money.
Discounts
There are many reasons why stores offer discounts. They may want to target a particular group of people such as seniors, students, and military professionals. Sometimes, stores want to attract new customers that normally do not shop there. By attracting certain types of customers, stores will benefit by expanding their customer base. In the future, stores will have new customers, which mean more profits. If you are a student, senior, military professional, new customer, or qualify for a discount, you should take advantage of being added to their customer based. After all, the stores will save you money and later, offer new products that cater to your needs.
Sales
Sales happen throughout the year, so stores can get rid of overstocked inventory, overpriced items, or unpopular products. The reason for this is it cost too much money for stores to keep large inventory of products. When you purchase products on sale, you not only help the store clean out their inventory, but you are also saving money. It is a win-win situation. Stores win by getting more room for new merchandise, and you win by paying less. Remember only buy if you plan on using it. Otherwise, you will be wasting money.
Seasonal Clearance
The reason why seasonal clearances exists is because stores what to get rid of out of seasonal products and make room for new seasonal products. You can take advantage of the end of season clearance by saving 40% to 80% off of the original prices. Some great stuff to buy during the end of season clearance are clothes (after the season), holiday candy (after the holidays), Halloween costumes (after Halloween), Christmas merchandise (after Christmas), heaters and snow blowers (in the spring), air conditioners (in the fall). If you don’t mind waiting for another year to get better use out of your purchase, then seasonal sales are great for you.
Sometimes, discounts, sales, and seasonal clearances are not advertised. You have three options of finding out these money saving opportunities. First, you can go to the store in person or via the internet to find these sales, which is time consuming. Secondly, you can sign up to be on a bunch of stores email lists and get a lot of junk mail to delete, which is irritating. Or, you can visit this link below to find the latest discounts, sales, and seasonal clearance from popular online stores.
Some Ideas for All That New Stuff
Author: Media
With Christmas still a warm memory, there’s all this new stuff in your life; your friends and family have showered you with the latest gadgets and gizmos. Now what are you going to do with all these new toys? Before you get too far into the manuals, and before you throw out the old stuff, take an inventory of what you have and what replaces what. Before you pile up the old TV with this week’s trash, consider what can be done with that still usable item. First, may I suggest you consider donating some of your replaced items to charity; the world has so many people in it that have a lot less than you do, so consider sharing some of it. If it still works, it’s donatable. If you just can’t part with it, then consider adding it to your cellar work area or the sun porch. You don’t need to get another cable box for it if you’re on cable, just split the signal out from another feeder line as it comes out of the wall and you should have limited control over the channels. I put the old, smaller TV in the kitchen for those cooking channels and comedy shows for while you prepare and clean up, all I did was split the signal before it enters the TV; that way I see the same thing in the living room and kitchen, and still have full access to all the channels, as long as both rooms want to watch the same thing. If you got a new home entertainment system, you can move the older one downstairs into the cellar and hook up some outside speakers for those Summer parties, or perhaps up into the kid’s room for their own enjoyment.
Did you pick up a new MP3 player or iPod? There’s a little device that I’ve found useful for these personal audio players, and it’s a little transmitter that plugs into the headphone jack, runs on AAA batteries and transmits your signal to an FM frequency on the radio. Very cool, and it works great in the car too. If the device stores files on a smart card or secure digital device or other media, keep an eye on the post-holiday sales, you may be able to double or triple your storage space for a low cost; if your device has removable media, it should be able to handle the biggest size available in that storage media type. Also a little patch cord from your player headphone jack to the stereo input on your home entertainment system will have you rocking to your portable MP3s in the comfort of your own living room.
It’s a new year and you should put a new message on your answering machine. I found some great old audio files online suitable for a greeting, but wanted to add something to them, and so they went into AV’s Music Morpher Gold, and after applying a few filters and effects, out came a fresh, personalized greeting. You could also simply use your own voice and apply some effects and produce a new and fresh greeting for your callers. So enjoy your new toys, and do consider recycling or donating your older devices, and enjoy your new year.
